Speech & Drama

The Speech & Drama module is a general introduction course to lay the foundation for future drama programmes, with concentration on fun-filled drills in voice techniques and exercises, drama games and activities through a structured module.

The Speech & Drama course will facilitate motor memory and play both essential to a child's brain development and learning.

Moving from concrete props, speech sounds and situations, the Speech & Drama lessons provide the child with the visual input and vocabulary to lay a firm foundation for the child's more abstract thinking and cognitive skills.

Phonics

To develop early literacy skills in word recognition, reading and writing. The Phonics module aims to introduce phonic principles and awareness through dramatic reading that is reinforced by structured language arts games, songs and play activities.

Phonetics

Phonetics is the branch of linguistics devoted to the study if speech sounds. Phonetics attempts to classify and describe sounds of speech used in all natural languages. The study may include how speaker produces speech sounds (physiological or articulatory phonetics), how speech sounds are transmitted from the speaker to the listener (acoustics phonetics), how a listener perceives speech sounds (perceptual or auditory phonetics) and how speech sounds function in languages to convey meaning (linguistic phonetics or phonology).

Creative Writing

The Creative Writing module teaches you the basic elements of story-writing and how you can use Concept Maps to plan and write creative and original stories, whether for the examinations or for fun. At the end of the course, see yourself transformed inevitably into a more creative writer and teacher.

Public Speaking

The Public Speaking module is an introduction to upfront speaking and addressing an audience. The skill with which lessons are delivered will usually determine if the learner comprehends, absorbs and remembers the material being put forth. Be it the delivery of factual, historical or lyrical content, the acquisition of public speaking skills will differentiate the professional teacher from an amateur.

Music & Movement

Through lectures, readings, and direct movement and music experiences, students learn a conceptual framework from which they create innovative plans that integrate music and movement into the classroom curriculum. Although the focus of the course is on the preschool curriculum, the concepts explored are applicable to all elementary levels.

Sign Language for Infant & Preschool Curriculum

The Sign Language for Infant and Preschool curriculum module aims to introduce, inspire and challenge caregivers of hearing infants and children to re-look sign language from a whole new perspective. Through lectures, songs, activities and games, students will learn to use the visual nature of sign language as a fun, interactive and playful educational tool.
