Overview

This course is to assist in the development of the participants’ knowledge, understanding, skills & ability to communicate using various methods and styles effectively.

 

Aim

Participants will be more confident in oral, written and email communication. They will also be taught techniques to be more effective in a meeting. They will be able to carry out their communication functions effectively and also express their thoughts and ideas in a more impactful manner in meetings and presentations.

 

Objective

Participants will acquire 3 main skills in:

Oral Communication Skills

  • Identify the qualities of a good communicator/presenter

  • Analyse the occasion

  • Structure the Presentation

  • Overcome their nerves

  • Learn when and how to handle questions

Meetings

  • Lead and participate effectively in meetings

  • Understand the reasons we attend meeting

  • Identify different personalities

  • Know how to interact with these different personalities

  • Learn the secrets successful participation

Written Communication Skills

  • Understand the importance of effective business writing

  • Write a concise message

  • Establish and maintain an effective writing style

  • Appreciate the correct layout for letters, memos etc.

Content

Course Duration

8 weeks on a part-time study for 4 hours per session. Sessions include classroom discussions/ participation, hands-on training activities and peer teaching practice.

Admission Criteria

  • Minimum 3 "O" levels with credit in English

  • Any other recognised Certification, Diploma or Degree

  • Mature candidates by interview and approval from the School
