The Creative Writing module aims to rekindle your love for the written word and foster the joy of reading and writing in children. Learn to add ‘life’ to your lessons. Equip yourself with updated and effective techniques of imparting creative writing skills to your students.
 

Supervised by an ex-school teacher and present tutor and trainer, this course endeavours to allow you to discover the joy of teaching writing and to connect to your own Creative Consciousness. A Teaching Tool Kit is n essential must-have and you will build your own in class! At the end of he course, see yourself inevitably transformed into a more creative writer AND teacher.

  • Select and Adapt suitably ‘fun’ materials and ‘strategise’ to Teach Creative Writing to Children

Lesson Approach

This is a stimulating and interactive workshop delivered through presentations, individual and group activities with hands-on applications. Authentic materials from well-loved writers, songs and video clips will be used to bring creative writing ‘alive’. Emphasis is very much on VAK teaching style. Finally, do not think of only pen and paper, bring your sense of humour and play into class. You learn best when you play hardest!


 
General Course Outline:

  • Appreciate Creative Writing

  • Draw Powerful Concept Maps and Use Them in Brainstorming and Planning for Creative Writing

  • Select Materials to Teach Creative Writing to Children

  • Use and Adapt the Strategies for Teaching Creative writing

  • Foster the Joy of Creative Writing in Children

Course format:

  • 3 hrs x 6 weekly lessons (with 1 practicuum)

  • 1 theory examination
